But when her little man walks in her room and tugs upon her sleeve,
No matter what kind of pain she is in, a smile comes cross her brow.
She grabs him tickles and cuddles his face, the pain goes away for just now.
But he knows his mommy is aching with pain, and he knows to be soft and kind.
And he'll help her with breakfast and chores round the house,
But I wonder as he watches his mommy, what goes through his 7 year mind.
Is he scared he will lose her like some of his friends, whom have lost their mommys so young.
Or is he just glad to see a new days sunshine arise knowing they'll have so much fun?
Even though she is racked with pain constantly, and lungs that could fail anytime.
She always finds a way to play with her son, and teach him the great lessons of time.
She teaches of God and his grace and his love, she plays games, and makes him play fair.
She is always there for him if scratches his knee, even confined to her chair.
God may have twisted her body, but her love continues to thrive,
She still takes her son on rides to the park, even though she's unable to drive.
She still gets him there as they ride through the town on her chair immune to the stares.
For her love for this child; a chosen of God is so great that she has not a care,
No worries of future, or pain she will face, no for she knows she will always be there.
For even if God were to call her away, the memories she'll leave in his head,
Will be with her boy till he's 90 and gray, Till he reaches his own parting going home day.
But I know that her love will be shared through his kids, and so she'll never really go far away.
What a great legacy to leave in your stead, far greater than riches or fame,
Is the love from a mom whom does far more than she should, that can never be taken away.
If he wants to learn courage and honor and such, he need not study his books,
For Alexander, Jackson, Patton and Lee have never faced greater battles than she
For she's an example to fight through the pain, that will never be found in stale library nooks
All he need do is clasp on to her hand, and with her undying love he'll become a great man.
Maybe one day she'll ask the father above why he allowed her to endure so much pain,
I don't know what his answer could possibly be, for I hate him and feel it's in vain
But her love for God never waivers, regardless of the rain in her path.
She just looks at her son, and cries through the pain, if he sees her it turns to a laugh.
The strongest woman of faith that I've ever met, in spite of a occasional flaw.
Unlike the healthy young hypocrites who complain about nothing at all.
Yes she will leave to my son the greatest of gifts, a gift that has come from above,
The gifts of charity, humility and grace, that come from his dear mothers love.
